Is the Water in the Venice Drinking Fountains Filtered or Chilled?
If you’re specifying a drinking fountain for a park, school, streetscape or commercial project, one of the most common questions we’re asked is:
“Is the water filtered or chilled?”
Here’s what you need to know about the Venice Suite drinking fountains.
Is the water chilled?
The Venice drinking fountains are not supplied with a built-in chiller. They connect directly to your site’s potable water supply, which keeps the unit simple, durable and well suited to outdoor environments.
Chilled systems require refrigeration components, power supply and ongoing maintenance. In many public settings, particularly parks, schools and streetscapes, clients prefer a more straightforward solution that reduces servicing requirements and long-term risk. If chilled water is a priority for your project, it would need to be provided through a separate system specified by your hydraulic consultant.
Is the water filtered?
Our fountains are not supplied with an integrated filter. However, they are designed to allow access to the plumbing connection via the rear panel. This means that when a licensed plumber installs the unit, an inline filter can be added to the pipework if required.
This approach gives you flexibility. Instead of being locked into a particular proprietary filter, you can select a filtration system that suits the local water conditions, maintenance plan and budget for your site. For schools, health facilities or areas with known water quality concerns, this can be a practical option.
A recent council installation
A good example of this in action is our recent project with Bellingen Shire Council. Council selected a DDA compliant Venice drinking fountain for installation within their community area, providing an accessible and durable hydration point for the public.
Why keep it simple?
Outdoor public infrastructure needs to be robust and easy to maintain. By avoiding built-in filtration or chilling systems as standard, the Venice range prioritises reliability and longevity. At the same time, it doesn’t limit your options. If your project brief calls for filtration, it can be incorporated during installation.
The Venice Drinking Fountain range, including standard and DDA compliant models as well as bottle refill stations, is designed to provide a durable and adaptable solution for public spaces.
If you’re unsure what’s appropriate for your project, our team can talk through your site conditions and help you decide whether a standard potable connection will be sufficient or whether it makes sense to allow for filtration during installation.
