About Macquarie College

Macquarie College is a Preschool to Year 12 school located on a large eight-hectare site in Wallsend. Macquarie College resides between the rapidly growing Lake Macquarie City Council and Newcastle City Council areas, servicing families throughout the Hunter region, including Cessnock, Maitland, Newcastle, Swansea and Cooranbong. The College has a unique, architecturally designed campus with high-quality and specialist facilities.

The Requirement

To enhance safety and traffic management in the school's pick-up and drop-off area by installing strategically placed bollards along the footpath, reducing the risk of accidents and promoting an orderly flow of pedestrian and vehicular traffic during peak times.

The Challenges

Limited Space: The footpath along the school's pick-up and drop-off area has limited space, making it important to install bollards without obstructing pedestrian movement or causing inconvenience to other users.

Durability and Maintenance: It was important that the bollards could withstand potential scratches and damage from students, and provide maximum strength against impact from vehicles, while maintaining an aesthetically pleasing appearance. It was also important to the client that the bollards be made of a material with a heavy wall thickness and that would require little to no ongoing maintenance.

The Solution

After assessing the challenges and requirements, the school selected 90mm Stainless Steel Fixed Bollards with a Base Plate to address the safety and traffic management concerns in the pick-up and drop-off area.
