About Holy Cross College

Holy Cross College in Ryde, NSW, is an independent Roman Catholic secondary day school for boys. Established in 1891 in the tradition of the Patrician Brothers, it caters to students from Years 7 through 12.

The Requirement

To strategically place new seating and waste bins in the schoolyard to effectively manage the movement and congregation of students and visitors.

The Challenges

• Material Durability and Vandalism Resistance: It's crucial to choose materials that not only withstand the elements but also resist wear and tear from frequent use and potential vandalism. The challenge lies in finding a balance between durability, cost, and aesthetics.
• Safety and Accessibility: Seating and bins must be safe for all users, including children of various ages and individuals with disabilities. This includes considerations for smooth edges, stable structures, and compliance with accessibility standards.
• Maintenance Requirements: Seating and bins with low maintenance needs are preferable to ensure they remain in good condition with minimal effort. The challenge is to choose materials and designs that are easy to clean and maintain.
• Space Optimisation: The placement of seating and bins must optimise space, encourage social interaction, and not obstruct traffic flow. Finding the right layout requires careful planning.

The Solution

After evaluating the challenges and  requirements, Holy Cross College selected a few key products, including the Prague Bin, Athens Bin Enclosure, Liverpool 2-Sided Setting and Woodville 1800mm Bench.

• Durable and Secure Construction: Outfitted with heavy-duty stainless steel hinges and a secure cam lock system, ensuring resilience against frequent openings and enhanced security.
• Efficient and Aesthetic Space Use: Its design allows for a snug fit around standard wheelie bins and can be placed side by side without protrusion, creating a neat and visually appealing waste station.

The  Liverpool 2-Sided Setting offers the following features:

• Australian-Made Quality: Designed, manufactured, and assembled entirely in Australia, ensuring high-quality craftsmanship and immediate stock availability for delivery.
