What is the Price Difference Between Slat Types and Why?

Have you been looking through the Astra Street Furniture range and wondered why there is a price difference between the standard slat types that we offer? Well, we can answer that in a few short sentences, so keep reading!

Put simply, the cost of materials is the essential difference between slat types. You will see that our FSC Merbau Hardwood and Anodised Aluminium slated furniture are the lowest cost as they have the simplest manufacturing processes. For example, Merbau is a natural product requiring less energy and less processes to manufacture compared to extruded aluminium or recycled composite.

For Anodised Aluminium slats, the anodising process is less costly than the 3-stage wood grain, double powder coating process that is required for our Wood Grain Aluminium slatted furniture pieces.

Both of the Wood Grain Aluminium options are higher in cost as they have a double premium powder coat process, after the aluminium is extruded.

The last of our slat options, Enviroslat Composite, is also higher in cost compared to Merbau Hardwood and Anodised Aluminium. This is due to the manufacturing process that occurs to combine the mixture of recycled materials and industrial adhesives. Enviroslat Composite slats are also the heaviest slat we offer for our street furniture, resulting in more expensive freight.

Although that Wood Grain Aluminium and Enviroslat Composite slatted furniture is more expensive then our other two standard options, they offer a whole range of benefits! (Not seen in Merbau Hardwood and Anodised Aluminium slats!).

So, there you have it! You now have a thorough understanding of the price differences between slat types, and we hope this helps you make an informed decision when choosing your Astra Street Furniture pieces!
