What are the Benefits of Aluminium and Enviroslat Slats for Furniture?

In a previous article, we discussed the price differences between our standard slat types. We mentioned that although the Wood Grain Aluminium Slats and Enviroslat Composite slats are more expensive than our other two slat options, they offer a whole range of benefits that aren’t see in our Merbau Hardwood and Anodised Alli slats. So, we would like to quickly run through these benefits with you!  

One of the main reasons our Wood Grain Aluminium is popular with many of our clients is due to the effortless timber look finish and low maintenance.  

The Western Red Cedar and Blonde Oak Wood Grain Ali slats present a premium timber look finish with none of the ongoing maintenance that is required with real timber slats. Merbau Hardwood slats require a re-coat every 3-6 months, compared to a quick wipe down with a damp cloth required of Wood Grain Ali slats.  

Another benefit of Wood Grain Aluminium slats is that they don’t rust. This makes them the ideal option for areas in close proximity to salt-water such as beaches and coast lines.  

Enviroslat Walnut slats is also another great alternative to natural timber slats. Enviroslat Walnut is an environmentally sustainable alternative to traditional timber as it is made from 55% reclaimed cellulose fibre, 35% recycled and virgin plastics and 10% additives.  

Timber is a magnet to termites and rotting and as Enviroslat’s are made using recycled materials, they are both rot and termite proof, whilst maintaining a timber look.  

In the harsh Australian environment, solid Enviroslat Composite is preferred due to the low moisture absorption and superior profile strength and design. It also doesn’t get excessively hot when exposed to the sun due to the combined properties of wood and plastic, making it an ideal solution for seating and dining options in areas that are exposed to a lot of sun.  

Enviroslat Walnut slats also don’t splinter which ensures the furniture can be used safely throughout its lifetime.
